This Summer Center Street engineers Britt Edwards and Chris Cameron are both traveling abroad to work with youth in El Salvador and The Philippines. Britt will be spending 3 weeks in El Salvador where we were able to do our Recording Workshop this past December. While there, with members of the Latin America regional team from Global Outreach Developments International, Britt will assist in leading church groups and S.L.A.M. interns from here in the states in community service for the people of El Salvador while continuing our music education efforts with the youth there.
Chris Cameron will spend 2 weeks in the Philippines with members from the South East Asia regional team from G.O.D. Int’l, helping to facilitate a group of interns from S.L.A.M. in community service. While in Tacloblan, a city devastated by Typhoon Yolanda just 2 short years ago, he will help to facilitate a Recording Workshop for youth in conflict with the law at a regional rehabilitation center.
Here at Center Street we recognize that music is a powerful way for people to tell their stories and we are honored to get to help our friends here in the states do that on a daily basis. We also have a heart to see people who otherwise wouldn’t get the opportunity to communicate through the medium of recorded music to tell their valuable stories. We are thankful to be able to participate in such meaningful work and are thankful for all of our faithful clients here in the U.S. who make these kinds of efforts possible for us. Be on the look out for updates from our work in El Salvador and the Philippines.
